I think the way this class is unravelling is very interesting.

It is certainly not what I expected but I'm excited to work through it. I think it is very empowering (?) to be able to do the work at my own pace. At first it made me nervous to even start because I never thought I would be motivated enough to do work at my own pace. For me, the key seems to be to just work through and staying steady. I get the urge to just zoom through the assignments instead of taking the time to do them well or making sure they meet my own standards. While I can't guarantee what will happen to my later assignments, I'm glad that I have kept a good pace that I can only hope to continue.
I have always been fascinated by the beliefs that people hold that I do not hold. It comes from a place of curiosity but I like to see what values and lessons align. I am somewhat familiar with Indian epics since they were common narratives from when I lived in Bangladesh. I think its more fun to dive into the stories even deeper with all the knowledge I have about Greek mythologies and Christian parables. Drawing similarities and trying to gather clues as to what circumstances people of the region were going through is just very interesting. The ideas of religion and government colliding into stories that are not only meant to serve as parables but as a guide to life is not something I have experienced growing up.
Values from India and other countries from that part of the world are very different. Like the story about Karma I read and wrote about in a different blog, it is easy to understand that justice in the minds of these storytellers turn to a higher power for movements of justice. I'm excited to see what all I will learn.

I agree with youthe fact that we can self pace ourself and finish things before in time is a great opportunity Professor Gibbs has given us. I personally plan to finish this course up within two months not because I want to just get done but because I am slightly insomniac and love to link one though from an assignment to another and that is best done when I am in a continuous process of doing one assignment after other because they are all linked. plus then I can prioritize my Political science major courses that have lot of research and papers to write.
